Xzibit Reminisces On The Restless Album’s 20th Anniversary

Restless 20th Anniversary

“I had just finished up in smoke tour, and was feeling on top of the world. It was time to record so I went to the studio and released all the energy that I had built up over two years touring performing recording with the greats. When I was finished with the record, We were trying to figure out the title of the album, DRE saw the tattoo on the back of my neck and it said “Restless”, he said that’s what you should call the album. Mr Cartoon did that tattoo, little did I know it would turn out to be the title of a life altering experience. 20 years ago this album came out and changed my life.

Thank you for the love, thank you for the support. I’m glad you guys enjoyed it as much as I did making it.”

Xzibit, B-Real, & Demrick Drop New Serial Killers Album “Summer Of Sam”

The Serial Killers collective, made up of Xzibit, B-Real, and Demrick, have come through with their new album “Summer Of Sam.”

It’s October, which means it’s about that time for some new music from the Serial Killers collective. Following up on their recent effort Day Of The Dead, Xzibit, B-Real, and Demrick have once again joined forces for a new effort, this one bigger and better than before. Locking in with several Aftermath alumni behind the boards, including longtime Dr. Dre collaborators Focus and Dem Jointz, Summer Of Sam comes equipped with some hard-hitting production.

And though the group’s name may suggest something closer to horrorcore, their latest effort is far more insightful, drawing inspiration from the current state of the world. Song titles like “Triggered,” “Quarantine,” and “War In The Streets” tend to hit rather close to home in the wake of everything that’s been going on. And for the duration, Xzibit, B-Real, and Demrick serve as effective commentators, detailing the impending apocalypse with veteran’s poise and battle-ready flows. Boasting guest appearances from Busta Rhymes, DJ Quik, and Snoop Dogg, Summer Of Sam should prove essential listening to anyone who holds an appreciation for any of the parties involved. What do you think of this project?

Xzibit, B-Real, & Demrick Drop “Quarantine”

Xzibit, B-Real, & Demrick Drop “Quarantine”

Xzibit, B-Real, and Demrick drop off new Serial Killers single “Quarantine” ahead of Friday’s album release.

This coming Friday, Xzibit, B-Real, and Demrick’s Serial Killers collective is set to drop off their brand new album Summer Of Sam, which features guest appearances from Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, and DJ Quik. And with their lead single “S.O.S” having dropped at the beginning of the month, the crew has opted to slide through with another new offering — this one boasting the highly topical title of “Quarantine.” Produced by Dr. Dre collaborator Dem Jointz, the melodic opening quickly transforms into something far more layered.

Setting things off is Xzibit, sounding as sharp as ever as he lays out brutally honest societal commentary. “All of the drive-through fast food that you can consume, ain’t no hospital beds open so one can assume / that if something serious happens let’s say having a stroke / that you can possibly get a virus while having some help.” Given the serious nature of the topic, “Quarantine” carries a notable weight throughout each verse, and B-Real and Demrick pick up where X left off in that regard. Look for them to explore the current state of the world even further on Summer Of Same, available in full this coming Friday.

Serial Killers Drop New Single “S.O.S”

Serial Killers Drop New Single “S.O.S”

Xzibit, B-Real, and Demrick’s Serial Killers collective announce new album release date with “S.O.S.”

The Serial Killers supergroup, which features Xzibit, B-Real, and Demrick, is gearing up to release their upcoming album Summer Of Sam on October 16th. Set to feature appearances from Busta Rhymes, DJ Quik, Busta Rhymes, Focus, Rick Rock, and more the trifecta has officially unveiled the project’s lead single and title track “S.O.S.” Though the album title and artwork might suggest something of a spookier nature, the track actually focuses on the ongoing societal divide currently plaguing America, which is arguably as spooky as any supernatural threat.

Over a melancholic piano instrumental, Xzibit sets it off with some reflective lyricism. “Education of self, generational wealth, stimulus check on the first, shit will be gone by the twelfth,” he raps. “Middle class is wiped out, America shut down / no NBA buckets, ain’t no throwing no touchdowns.” B-Real picks up where he left off, his cynicism bleeding through as he paints pictures. “People divided not even the virus could unite us,” he raps. “Pulled us apart, it’s the art of war meant to divide us.” Last but not least is Demrick, his urgent flow appropriate for the darker subject matter. “Take a look at what they cookin’ in the devil’s kitchen,” he warns. “That ain’t chicken that’s a bunch of people dead and missin’.”

Check out the politically charged single from Serial Killers now, and keep an eye out for Summer Of Sam to land in full on October 16th.
