XZIBIT is taking on the unofficial role of rap ambassador because he's sick of the knocks the music genre gets for its violent lyrics and imagery.
The rapper, real name ALVIN JOINER, insists he and his peers are simply chronicling modern times and if society wasn't so terrible, their lyrics wouldn't be so controversial and violent.
He says, "Rap is a reflection of society. If society wasn't violent, then hip-hop wouldn't be violent.
"You can blame hip hop but we're like reporters; we tell you what's going on in the neighbourhood and we tell you how it is. I don't think hip-hop should glorify the violence. I think with hip-hop music you have to have some kind of balance. When you take someone's life you're gonna end up losing yours.
"But we can't be like ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER; he can kill 70 million people on the screen and still he's a role model. But when you talk about slapping somebody, or shooting somebody on a rap tape, you are a criminal."

Rapper XZIBIT fears young black Americans get involved in crime because they'll never be able to compete with their rich white neighbours, who have fortunes passed on to them.
The thoughtful PIMP MY RIDE star understands why some of his peers turn to stealing and drug dealing as a means to get rich quick - because they don't have trust funds to turn to.
He says, "I think our biggest problem as young black men in this country is that we have become used to immediate gratification and that will destroy you.
"We come from a generation where our families don't have trust funds or family businesses where we can just jump into.
"My father had to struggle and his father had to struggle, so me, being born into the situation, I inherit the struggle. What becomes attractive with stealing is that I can enjoy the things society has, but I get it faster. It's immediate gratification.
"That's more attractive than going to college for five years, you're halfway done with your life before you even get to enjoy your car."

I can see what he means by that, but I still think that if people were banned from having guns alltogether, then it would be a good start.
In society in general, it's more profitable & less effort to do something illegal, get loads of money real quick. It shouldn't be that way.
Black people, I agree, have much more problems getting to the same standard of life as their fellow "white" neighbours. I hate to use the terms "black" "white" but there is discrimination. It's harder for them folks.
All these are things I'd like to see changing before I pop my clogs. :o

Real talk right there - X has come from nothing to be something, so he knows what he's talking about.

I have never been fingerprinted and I am not in the system. I was just shy of it though b/c of my adoption, seeing my sis for the first time ever in her casket and more crappola as well at the tender age of 14. Thanks to my Dad, an Air Force man, he saved my life. But he, as well, re-married and hard headed me wanted to buck the bucks. There are soooooo many paths I could have chosen but I didn't. My Dad will say I was not a bad kid but let me tell it, woah!! I miss my birth Mother more and more when I read Xzibit's personal stories. I have had 3 women to call "Mom" and that there was trauma in itself.
It's makes you realize just how blessed you are as you get older. EVERYTHING you do, it works on your parents no matter what they say. I today still am apologizing for ish I did. My Dad is like, let it go. I just feel really bad about the nights I was supposed to be at home this time and decided to come whenever I felt like it. My Father somewhat worries on end about me now. You never stop being a parent even after the child turns 18. I was never maternal b/c of the sheer ish I put them through. I don't want ANY ONE, especially thru birth, to hurt me like I did my people.
