Rapper Xzibit thinks twice before getting involved with anything that could land him in trouble because he wants to remain a good role model to his 11-year-old son. The Pimp My Ride star insists he's winning the battle of raising his son because he accepts his role as both mentor and father and goes out of his way to avoid the temptation that comes with rap music success so as not to disappoint his kid.

He says, "My son is starting sixth grade and he gets all of his information from me. I am his hero... As long as I have that attention and the love and respect from him, that's where the communication starts. The real part of why I'm so intense with my son, as far as the way I talk to him, is because I don't want my son being disciplined by somebody outside of me.

"I don't want someone bringing my son home in handcuffs saying they have to lock him up because he did something wrong. He's gonna know the difference between right and wrong. I'm making a positive contribution to society by making sure my son goes out there as a productive part of it and I lead by example.

"You never see me in tabloids or on the police roster getting arrested for dumb s**t. When he has to follow in my footsteps, he's never seen me slip once."
