Gym Class Heroes have announced they will be releasing their new single "The Queen And I" through Decaydance/Fuelled By Ramen Records on August 28th in the UK. They will follow the release with their album "As Cruel As School Children" on September 4th.Geneva, New York-based band Gym Class Heroes have won over both audiences and critics with their unique blend of melded hip-hop, rock, R&B and various other musical styles.?The whole fun element of hip-hop has disappeared. Everybody takes themselves so seriously, it?s become a fashion show more or less. We want the vibe to be as fun as possible? says front man Travis McCoy. ?Our music is rooted in hip-hop,? adds McCoy, ?but not restricted to it. We never drew ourselves into a corner, which made it easy for us to play for all kinds of people ? from jam band fans to death metal fans to punk fans to hip-hop fans.?With their new album Gym Class Heroes are out to break musical boundaries and change the way people view indie hip-hop and rock. With their new single "The Queen And I" GCH show how the album is not as bright and breezy as it initially sounds, revealing deeper meaning and emotions. ?It?s a personal song,? Travis says of "The Queen And I", ?about girls who fancy alcoholic beverages, girls who like to have too much of a good time. I have weird underlying issues with females and alcohol. This song is kind of like closure, though you?d never get that vibe listening to the song. It?s fun to do things like that, make music that?s fun with a really poppy vibe, but when you listen to the lyrics, it?s like, ?Holy ****, that dude just said?? If you?re not paying attention, you think it?s just another radio ditty that sticks in your head, but then when you really listen you see it?s a whole lot more.?Gym Class Heroes have spent most of the last two years performing live headlining their own sold out events as well as touring with rock act Fall Out Boy.
