Fathers & Figures By Xzibit
Fathers & Figures:
It's Father's Day and I am spending it with my lady, my newborn son Gatlyn and my 15 year-old-son Tremayne. I have been blessed. I would also like to take this time to say that being a REAL father to your children is THE most important thing that you will ever do as a man. Any idiot with a d**k can get a woman pregnant. It's the desire to see the success of your children, no matter what they decide to become, that makes you a father. It's up to you to lead and live by example.
There is no handbook on being a father. It's not easy by any means and it takes a lot of work, but they didn’t asked to be brought here so, MAN UP, and handle it. When you have children, love them, stay involved with them, teach them what you know and if you don't know much, love them enough to make sure they get the education and opportunities you didn't. Show them you love them everyday regardless, whether happy, sad, rich or poor. It doesn't take money to spend time. You may miss a few hangouts with the fellas, you may get dissed by people who don't HAVE any children, but guess what....nothing in life is more rewarding and fulfilling then having raised a wonderful person inside and out and seeing them be a productive part of this world we live in and not a destructive part, because that's the flip side.
When you DONT take hold of the responsibility of being a father, don't trip the street will do it for you and last time I checked, "The streets don't love you back" (via @Youngde)
Happy Fathers Day!!!

B-Real, Xzibit Form New Group, Called Serial Killaz, With Rising Rapper Young De
Last month, a new track called "Body Bags," featuring Cypress Hill frontman B-Real, Xzibit and rising rapper Young De hit the web. The collaboration wasn't just for one of the MCs' project, it is part of a group effort between the trio called the Serial Killaz.
We caught up with Young De on the set of Xzibit's new music video, "Hurt Locker," recently where he revealed the group's formation.
He said the three joined forces after a chance meeting in the studio, where they began creating new music and couldn't deny their chemistry.
"The way that it actually came together was I had met Xzibit in the studio. I walked into the studio and there's Xzibit, and I got introduced to him," Young De explained to BallerStatus.com. "He's like 'Hey, you're Young De, who's on B-Real's 'Don't Ya Dare Laugh,' ' (the first single off B-Real solo debut, Smoke N Mirrors). He's like 'I love that song. I need to get your on something.' So, we started working from there, and we just really clicked up ... mentally, like on the same page, work ethic-wise.
"And, I've been working with B-Real the last two years. That's the person who's showed me a lot about this game so far. So, we started by [Xzibit] hopping on one of the songs, because me and B-Real were working on an album together. It came from that," he added.
The Serial Killaz album is nearly complete, says De. However, you won't be hearing too much from it just yet. Because members Xzibit and B-Real have their own projects in the works -- X's next solo album, MMX, set to drop sometime this year; and B-Real is gearing up for a new Cypress Hill album, set for April.
Further details, including the project's title, guests, producers, etc. are unknown at press time.
Young De did say to expect a "themed album" though, before declining to give more details. He did express is excitement though, saying once the two hip-hop vets came to him with the idea, he jumped at the opportunity.
"Number one, I feel very blessed to be even ... when B-Real and Xzibit come to you and go 'Hey we're gonna do a group together' ... you go like 'Hell ya! (laughs) Where do you want me to stand?'" the rapper said. "It was like an organic thing."
Until more Serial Killaz music leaks, you can expect to hear more songs and music videos from X's upcoming MMX album. Xzibit told us that he'll be leaking both visuals and tracks leading up to the album's release, which hadn't been announced at press time.
Cypress Hill, on the other hand, are set to drop their first new group album since 2004's Till Death Do Us Part. Their new album, titled Rise Up, is set for release April 20 (4/20), of course. You can download their first single, "It Ain't Nothin'," at their official website CypressHill.com.

Xzibit Interview: Xzibit Films New Videos For Upcoming MMX Album
BallerStatus.com did a short interview with Xzibit on the set of the video for Hurt Locker and Phenom. Check out what X had to say below:
Over the past weekend, rapper Xzibit was hard at work, filming two brand new music video for his upcoming, seventh studio LP MMX.
While the west coast vet was focused on filming the visuals for the two songs, "Hurt Locker" and "Phenom", with director Matt Alonzo (Skee.TV), he was also enjoying a first in his career -- showing his brother Jason, who has been incarcerated for nearly 15 years in Michigan, what the set of a music video was like.
During a break from shooting, we sat with both X and Jason in the rapper's tour bus to talk about their reunion, and how it felt to experience Xzibit's return to music ... once again.
"If you listen to my records -- 40 Days, 40 Nights -- our history goes back to ... it's ridiculous," Xzibit told BallerStatus.com, referring to the history he and his brother have. "The things we survived in order to get to surviving (laughs). It's deep. We not gonna get all into that, but like I said, it took a long time for us to get to this point."
"I'm just happy to be here, seeing him put the work in. Watching my family together, I mean ... it took a long time to get here, but we here now," Jason added, before revealing a story about their childhood.
"When X was younger, he won a blue ribbon, man. I think you were in the sixth grade? Something like that," he asked his famous bro.
"O God. Please don't embarrass me," X replied, laughing.
"[It was] sixth grade for some rapping man. From there, I knew exactly what he was gonna do. Anything he puts his mind to, he's always been consistent and persistent with it. The guy knows what he's doing," Jason said. "He's a good businessman. He puts the right people around him and I don't expect nothing less man. I'm just here to pay attention (laughs)."
During our chat, Xzibit was in the middle of filming shots for his Scoop Deville-produced first single, "Hurt Locker".
The song serves as a appetizer for what's to come from MMX, which stands for "2010" in the Roman numerals. And for many fans, some of first new music from the rapper since 2006's Full Circle.
Yes, it's been over four years since X has dropped an album. While you've seen him in movies -- such as Gridiron Gang and 2008's The X-Files -- Xzibit has been dealing with personal issues behind the scenes, he didn't delve too deep into.
But he's back, and this time around he's taking his time to craft a quality project, unlike Full Circle, which he admits he recorded and dropped in just two months.
"I went to Koch out of a matter of convenience," X explained of his last solo effort. "I was in between seasons of 'Pimp My Ride,' and I just wanted to put some music out. I only had two months to record that record and it sounds like a record that was recorded in two months (laughs). But you know what? It fed my n****s for a little bit, and we got to put out some music that I felt like needed to happen at the time.
"Would I do it the same way now? Nah. It takes time and energy and input from a lot of people to really make a quality product. That's how I feel now. I'm in a great place, I'm doing it on my pace, and I got a great team around me. That's how [MMX] is gonna win, because everything I put my hands on and put time into, and wrap my head around and see it all the way through from A to Z, it blows up. That's what I'm focused on now, Xzibit music," the rapper continued.
Further details regarding the album are under wraps at the moment, but Xzibit plans to release new material, continuously, leading up to MMX's release later this year. So, stay tuned.
"Hurt Locker" is currently being edited by director Matt Alonzo, and is set to debut soon, with the follow-up song "Phenom" coming sometime after.
Until then, you can stay up to date with Xzibit on Twitter @MrXtoThaZ, or on Facebook under Xzibit.

Xzibit is set to star in Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans. The movie will be released in 2009 and will star Nicolas Cage, Val Kilmer, Eva Mendes and Fairuza Balk.
Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans Synopsis: After severely injuring his back while saving a prisoner from drowning in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, homicide detective Terence McDonagh (Nicolas Cage) is promoted to lieutenant, prescribed painkillers and returned to active duty.
A year later, he is addicted to both Vicodin and cocaine. But his responsibilities to the force continue, and when a family of African immigrants is found massacred, Terence is handed the case by his superiors. In the convoluted moral universe in which Terence lives, it's possible to be a protective boyfriend to his escort girlfriend Frankie (Eva Mendes), look after a witness wanted by a notorious drug dealer (played by car-modifying rapper Xzibit), score drugs from intimidated club kids, regularly hallucinate about reptiles, have a lucky crack pipe and still somehow be charged with protecting the general public.

Xzibit Interview: Xzibit - The Hunger For More @ HiphopDX
Few artists as lyrically capable as Xzibit have made it to household status. Although Pimp My Ride, acting and Sprite endorsements may have led to Alvin Joiner becoming a celebrity to older generations and non-Hip Hop listeners, Mr. X-to-the-Z's formula for rhymes, not cars is "putting paint where there ain't."
A relatively quiet first half of 2009 has found Xzibit touring throughout Europe. The California-based emcee credits Germany with giving him first plaque 13 years ago, and the Likwit Crew standout used the opportunity, touring with Tash and brethren, to remind everybody - including perhaps himself, that he's still emersed in the culture that built him.
In a brief but powerful discussion with HipHopDX, Xzibit explains why he's plotting a return to the Rap of his roots. After the longest delay in his career between albums, read how reaching the fans has touched the rapper's heart and his hunger for more.

New Download: Bishop Lamont takes rappers to 'chuuch' with Dr. Dre, Xzibit
Perpetual West Coast next-to-bat rapper Bishop Lamont climbs up from limbo to deliver scriptures once again. "Hallelujah" appears to be the latest leak from Bishop Lamont's highly anticipated debut album, The Reformation. Bishop Lamont is the long-time protege of legendary rap producer and West Coast icon Dr. Dre, an association that builds excitement for his debut to feverish levels.
Though the last time Bishop Lamont was in the news, it was for rumors that he had been dropped from Dre's Aftermath imprint. After some back and forth between VladTV, who originally broke the story, and Bishop Lamont, fans were left confused as to the rapper's current status with Dr. Dre and Aftermath.
The leak of "Hallelujah" would seem to allay fears that Bishop had been dropped. In the song, he raps from the position of preacher and educates the congregation about fake rappers. Xzibit hops on the hook, playing the role as another preacher (or assistant?). Dr. Dre rounds out the concept with a fire-and-brimstone, apocalyptic beat featuring some really hard drums and eerie church choir singing. Bishop sticks to pretty standard subject matter--fake gangsters and the demonic Hollywood influence--but he also sticks to his concept, which makes it really fresh. Hopefully, The Reformation sees the light of day, unlike so many other Aftermath projects.
My apologies for not sending this out earlier. If you can catch Xzibit live on stage, be sure to do it, you won't regret it (trust me, i've seen him live 6 times, the shows GO OFF!)
Be sure to check out Xzibit's Twitter and Youtube channel. You'll see some funny footage (especially in the cafe in Amsterdam!).
