Xzibit Interviewed by AllHipHop: Talks Empire TV Show, West Coast Hip-Hop & More…

Xzibit Interview @ AllHipHop

AllHipHop chopped it up with the Cali King on his views on Hip-Hop, Hollywood and the great strides he’s made in his career:

Xzibit has seen some of the highest highs Hip-Hop could possibly offer. That notion is quite literal and as well as metaphorical. During his powerful run in rap, Xzibit used to rocked with inebriated icons such as Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem as well as underground legends like Tha Liks and King Tee. But, never mistake his affiliations with a lack of ability to stand alone. Lyrically, X to tha Z came forth with a West Coast perspective that was completely unique, chock full of lyrics and hard raps.

His ability to forge ahead without his old running mates is exemplified with his present status. Unlike the lot of them, Xzibit has transitioned nicely into a thespian that has appeared in “The X-Files,” “Seal Team Six: The Raid on Osama Bin Laden” and now “Empire.” His role as “Shyne” is a sinister nemesis to Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) has captivated audiences.

Xzibit To Guest Star On FOX TV Show ‘Empire’

Xzibit is bringing his acting talents to Empire. Mr. X To The Z, born Alvin Joiner, will be appearing on the FOX drama as a rival to Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard).

Deadline reports that:

Xzibit will star as Leslie “Shyne” Johnson aside Terrence Howard’s polarizing character, Lucious. The rapper will embody a music mogul with a close ear to the streets. “Shyne” also has resentment towards Lucious after getting blackballed for his lifestyle. Leslie “Shyne” Johnson is 100% wolf and 100% gangster. He has managed artists, started record imprints and even sold a few units here and there, but his bread and butter always has been — much to his years-long frustration — drugs, guns and extortion. Feeling shut out by the other heavy hitters in the music industry, he carries a big chip on his shoulder, especially for Lucious.
