Serial Killers Drop New Single “S.O.S”

Xzibit, B-Real, and Demrick’s Serial Killers collective announce new album release date with “S.O.S.”

The Serial Killers supergroup, which features Xzibit, B-Real, and Demrick, is gearing up to release their upcoming album Summer Of Sam on October 16th. Set to feature appearances from Busta Rhymes, DJ Quik, Busta Rhymes, Focus, Rick Rock, and more the trifecta has officially unveiled the project’s lead single and title track “S.O.S.” Though the album title and artwork might suggest something of a spookier nature, the track actually focuses on the ongoing societal divide currently plaguing America, which is arguably as spooky as any supernatural threat.

Over a melancholic piano instrumental, Xzibit sets it off with some reflective lyricism. “Education of self, generational wealth, stimulus check on the first, shit will be gone by the twelfth,” he raps. “Middle class is wiped out, America shut down / no NBA buckets, ain’t no throwing no touchdowns.” B-Real picks up where he left off, his cynicism bleeding through as he paints pictures. “People divided not even the virus could unite us,” he raps. “Pulled us apart, it’s the art of war meant to divide us.” Last but not least is Demrick, his urgent flow appropriate for the darker subject matter. “Take a look at what they cookin’ in the devil’s kitchen,” he warns. “That ain’t chicken that’s a bunch of people dead and missin’.”

Check out the politically charged single from Serial Killers now, and keep an eye out for Summer Of Sam to land in full on October 16th.

QUOTABLE LYRICS
People divided not even the virus could unite us
Pulled us apart, it’s the art of war meant to divide us
Clearance the highest for the chosen few, overview
If they don’t give a fuck about no soul, it’s overdue

Dr. Dre & Xzibit Really Want You To Know They’re Back In The Studio

Xzibit has reconnected with Dr. Dre and started plotting some new music with the Aftermath Entertainment boss. The veteran MC shared a photo of himself and the hitmaking producer at work, devising their plans with a pen and notepad.

“About last night…… the almighty D.R.E @drdre and yours truly,” he wrote via Instagram. “I think we are on to something.”

Xzibit hasn’t released a solo album since 2012’s Napalm. The LP featured one track produced by Dre: “Louis XIII” featuring King T and Tha Alkaholiks.

The picture posted by Xzibit emerged less than a week after Dre was spotted in the studio with Nas and Slim The Mobster. While it’s unclear what they may have been working on, Nas has been teasing some new projects as of late.

Nas confirmed a new release executive produced by Hit-Boy, but he’s kept quiet about the other one. The secrecy could have something to do with Dre being involved.

“There’s some projects going on,” Nas told Video Music Box’s Ralph McDaniels in April. “One of them, I was working with Hit-Boy and I still am. And then there’s another, the one I’m working on that I don’t want to disclose. But Hit-Boy, that’s been fun working with him. So he played a snippet in the battles the other day, a snippet of something. We got some things.”

Unlike Nas, Xzibit hasn’t explicitly announced a new project. But in an interview with HipHopDX, the West Coast rapper did note he’s re-releasing his Restless album in honor of its 20th anniversary, which will be celebrated in December.

X to Z also indicated the reissue may include some previously unreleased tracks from his Golden State Warriors supergroup with Ras Kass and Saafir.

Xzibit Receives Platinum Plaque For Nate Dogg & Snoop Dogg Collab “Bitch Please”

A birthday gift for the books.

After Xzibit dropped off his debut album At the Speed of Life in October of 1996, it only secured his place in the industry as a budding rapper from Detroit who made the move to Los Angeles to add to in the influx of west coast sounds. A major moment in Xzibit’s career was when Dr. Dre heard of his sounds and gave him a featured spot on “Bitch Please” featuring Nate Dogg and Snoop Dogg. The collaboration was a memorable one for Xzibit and it’s for that reason why his firstborn son gifted him with a Platinum plaque of the song for his 45th birthday.

Xzibit (born Alvin Joiner) shared a post to Instagram that sees the Snoop Dog approved framed plaque (RIP Nate Dogg) that celebrates the song’s success that sat on Snoop’s fourth album, No Limit Top Dog.

“Yo! I damn near cried when my son gave me this for my birthday. Man, this means so much to me. Thank you @snoopdogg for approving this in time for my birthday, class act bro. Thank you,” Xzibit captioned a video of his present. “We made #BitchPlease not knowing it would become a single and then launch me into my first platinum performance. Nate Dogg killed this record. ……..we all know it ain’t a single till @natedoggmusic on it…..that’s the glue to all of the music we did back then.”
