Xzibit Says “Up In Smoke” Tour With Dr. Dre, Eminem Was Highlight Of His Career

Xzibit looks back on his career.

Xzibit might not be as prominent in the game as he once was but you can’t deny the strides he made in his career. Pimp My Ride is probably one of his most notable endeavors to this day but at one point in time, he stood alongside hip-hop’s giants during one of the most legendary show’s in the genre’s history. He recently chopped it up with KXNG CROOK where he reflected on the “Up In Smoke” tour.

If you ask Xzibit what one of the highlights of his career is, he’ll tell you it was the night he performed alongside Dr. Dre, Eminem, and Snoop Dogg on one of the biggest hip-hop tours in the 90s. The rapper explained to Crook on HipHopDX’s Crook’s Corner that sharing the stage with these iconic artists will forever be considered as a peak in his career.

“It was the highlight of my career still to this day. I’ve had some real peaks and that was definitely the highest,” he said before explaining that the moment was a “breakthrough” of sorts. “It wasn’t real until we rolled out on that stage. I went out there and I could look at the crowd and I had Dr. Dre right here, I had Eminem right here and Snoop Dogg — we had just got off the low rider bikes doing ‘Bitch Please.'”

Xzibit Reflects On “Restless” 18th Anniversary: “This Album Changed My Life”

Xzibit’s “Restless” turns 18.

“I can drink a whole Henessey fifth,” raps Xzibit, on his classic banger “Get Your Walk On.” “Some call that a problem but I call it a gift.” That track is but one of many hits from X’s Restless album, joining the likes of “Front 2 Back,” the Dr. Dreassisted “U Know,” “X,” “Best Of Things,” and the excellent Eminem collaboration “Don’t Approach Me.” When that album first dropped on December 12th, 2000, many were only starting to get to know Xzibit. That’s not to say the rapper wasn’t already making moves, having dropped off two underground bangers in At The Speed Of Life and 40 Dayz & 40 Nightz. Yet there was something about Restless that spoke to a generation, and helped solidify Xzibit as one of the era’s prominent voices.

Today marks the project’s 18th anniversary, and Xzibit took to Instagram to celebrate the album’s legacy with a heartfelt message:

Congratulations X! Restless was a classic, and deserves to be celebrated accordingly. If you’re looking to relive some of the era’s finest music, be sure to check out the project in full. With a truly stacked guest pool of Dr. Dre, Nate Dogg, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, DJ Quik, Tha Alkoholics, KRS One, and more, Restless epitomizes the post-Up-In-Smoke era, a true testament to The Platinum Era. Xzibit, B-Real, & Demrick Prep The Kill Room On “Get Away With It”

It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from Xzibit. Now, at the helm of the Serial Killers collective, X to the Z has once again taken to his sinister purpose. Flanked by B-Real and Demrick, the trio have been hard at work on their upcoming Day Of The Dead project, which is set to arrive on October 31st. Now, we’re honored to premiere the debut single “Get Away With It,” which finds the trifecta taking to a spooky banger from Nottz; in fact, the vibe harkens back to X’s early millennium Man Vs. Machine vibe, with shades of “Symphony In X Major.”

“We are extremely proud of the work we have done collectively as The Serial Killers,” says X. “B real, Demrick and myself have worked on our individual careers, but when we get together to do one of these projects, it comes together seamlessly.”

The chemistry is apparent, as X starts things off with his stalwart growl, a welcome return for those who still hold his discography in high regard. Demrick proves a formidable force in his own right; what he lacks in veteran presence he makes up for in lyrical dexterity. B-Real closes out the murder scene, his iconic voice depicting Biblical imagery and Redman homages.

Be sure to check for Day Of The Dead dropping this Halloween.

Quotable Lyrics

Thankful for what I’m given, and want not what I don’t got
Yeah I know seeing me making it was a long shot
Now go get your fuckin’ shine box
Ripley, Alien, blow you out the airlock
